The healthcare sector created 1 out of 7 new US jobs in 2018 based off preliminary data released by the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). Although most of the jobs reported are clinical based, that means there is a growing demand for support ranks such as coding, billing, compliance, management, etc.

There is a possibility that the BLS is not fully reporting the sector as well by not including all support rank jobs as well such as compliance professionals, medical coders, auditors, educators, practice managers, medical billers, and so on. New data from the BLS projects that the healthcare sector employment will grow 18% from 2016 to 2026 which is considered “much faster than average for all occupations, adding about 2.4 million new jobs.”

Needless to say, there are jobs out there available for coders, billers, and other support rank positions. When you are looking for a job, sometimes it is easier to find somewhere that is expanding rather than trying to replace a trusted employee as a new coder.
