CAT (Common Admission Exam):

The IIM colleges are located in cities like Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Calcutta, Indore, Kozhikode and Lucknow. CAT is a written exam which is conducted by the Indian Institute of Management and is a vital and the initial stage of the selection procedure. If the candidate is selected, he or she would then be invited for the personal interview and the group discussion rounds.
Sections of CAT exam
The CAT exam is divided into four sections called verbal ability, Problem solving, Reading comprehension, and Data Interpretation. The questions have to be answered using a HB pencil on a computer designed answer paper.
The negative marks would be awarded in case of incorrect response.

Registration for CAT applicants starts from August to September.
Last date for receiving completed CAT Application form in all respect at therespected IIM is September.

MAT (Management Aptitude Exam) entrance exam
MAT is a management Entrance exam for getting admission into various MBA programs and other postgraduate programs of the colleges that participate in the exam. This exam is managed by the All India Management Aptitude testing Service (AIMATS), New Delhi. MAT is conducted in major places of India and also in overseas areas.

MAT is an objective based exam having multiple choice options while answering a question.
The exam consists of 5 sections called the Language comprehension, Mathematical Skills, Data Analysis, Indian and Global Environment, Intelligence and Critical Reasoning.
