Regional Conferences Are the Latest Buzz

Summer is ending, kids are heading back to school, and AAPC is getting excited to host an AAPC Regional Conference in New York City. I hope to meet many of you in there this month (August 19-21) or at the Seattle regional conference held on October 14-16. If you are attending one, you’ll be able to take advantage of the education and networking opportunities that AAPC conferences offer.

In addition to the top notch education that’s presented by industry-leading subject matter experts, don’t forget the value of the networking opportunities that conferences provide. Over the years, members have reported making contacts who have helped them to grow professionally over the course of their career. This is also an opportunity to meet the members of your National Advisory Board (NAB) and share your thoughts (positive and negative) about how AAPC is serving your needs. We rely on this information as we advise AAPC on current and future programs.

NAB Career Advancement Committee Launches the Mentorship Program

The NAB Career Advancement committee just announced the launch of the AAPC Mentorship Program. While complete information is available on the AAPC Website on the Mentorship Program page, I encourage members to take advantage of this program. If you have expertise in medical coding, consider sharing that knowledge with a mentee to ensure the development of our future industry leaders. Or if are looking to kick off your professional development path into high gear, register as a mentee and start your search for a compatible mentor. Just remember that a mentor’s job is not to answer your questions. Instead, it’s to guide you in learning how to find the answers yourself. Having been both a mentor and mentee, I can attest that in either role, both parties benefit professionally.
