A dorsal lateral linear incision was created over the fifth metatarsal phalangeal joint of the right foot. The incision was deepened to the fifth metatarsal phalangeal joint capsule where a dorsal lateral capsulotomy was performed. Capsular tissues were freed from the dorsal and lateral aspect of the fifth metatarsal phalangeal joint exposing the tailor’s bunion deformity. A significant lateral bowing was noted in the distal third of this metatarsal as well.

The tailor’s bunion was resected with a power saw. An oblique wedge osteotomy was created in the neck of the metatarsal with the base distal medial and the apex proximal lateral maintaining the lateral cortex of the metatarsal. The osteotomy was closed and was fixated utilizing 2 Wright medical dart fire headed screws 2.0 mm x 10 mm each. The osteotomy was visibly noted to be secure
